October. Power dress to impress this season. Own it in oversized jackets, turn heads in tailoring and always be original by adding your own feminine touch to an otherwise androgynous trend. From casual cool to ultimate class, we’re celebrating strong styling so women bosses read on.
Fashion is fixing up this Autumn, with tailoring back at the top of the cool list. Be bold in a head to toe slim suit and a side order of sparkle. Pronounced shoulders should never be shrugged off with well fitting trousers marking out the new, everyday uniform – perfect for both in and out the office. Add femininity with a pair of killer heels and some statement jewellery, just because everything looks better when you add a little glitz and glamour! If tailored trousers aren’t for you, a simple swap into a midi skirt can transform this look, keeping the class and style but showing a little more leg. We love this Lela Knit Pencil Skirt from French Connection for £70.
The temptation with tailoring is to wear the full look at once. Our advice, dissect the parts and you’ve got the start of three separate outfits. First, the trousers. Slim fit is an obvious selection for this look, but don’t be afraid to get fancy with floaty this fall. Wide leg trousers paired with a crop helps to elongate your legs whilst accentuating your waist – does it get much better than that?
Next up, the blazer. Whilst Spring saw a rainbow of colours, this season simplicity & heritage hits back, covering styles from plaid, Prince of Wales checks and gorgeous gingham. The colours stay neutral, in blacks, whites, grey and browns with a stand out accessory like this attention grabbing box clutch or the cute pink fluffy backpack both available in Zara.
Lastly your autumn must have, a jacket… Whilst the weather forecast may sometimes disagree, winter isn’t quite upon us so just a lightweight jacket is all you need. Our fave, the trench coat. A classic, both practical and chic. It’ll keep you dry from head to knees and is a worthwhile investment as they never go out of fashion.
