As the weather heats up, naturally more skin is on show, but we’re all for taking that one step further. Show your mid section some love and bare your tum this season. Scared? Don’t be, we’ve got you covered!

Gone are the ‘Clueless’ days where we were influenced by the likes of The Spice Girls, teaming a crop with a bright and revealing mini skirt. Keep it really simple to ensure you’re on the right side of feminine as opposed to overexposed. Crop tops are statement enough without trying to ramp up the sex appeal, so preserve your modesty with a high neckline and high rise bottoms and nothing too tight!

There are lots of ways to work this look and work it well, you just need to think about the type of event you are dressing for, and shapes, fabrics and colours that suit your body.

For bustier ladies, avoid flowing or frilly fabrics on your top half that draw a lot of attention to your assets. Whether you’re a Kardashian fan or not, Kim is the queen of the crop when it comes to styling a uniform two piece to accentuate her shape, opting for simple fabrics, colours and structure to hug her curves with sophistication. For those of you with a little less shape, the crop allows you to sculpt your silhouette, so opt for a top that is slightly looser on top. Pair this with a shapely midi skirt or tight fitted jeans. If you’ve got a toned tummy that you’re ready to reveal (lucky you), you can do this too by choosing a lower cut – just remember less is more!

If you want to make a bolder statement, it’s time to look at matchy matchy prints that could, without the little break of skin, could look overwhelming (and slightly like your Nan’s curtains!). Keep this under control by sticking to pale colours, florals and pretty patterns – try ZARA for a great collection to get you started.

If baring your midriff still sends chills to your core, test the waters with a temporary tie-up. We’re throwing it back to the 90s and tying the knot (on old shirts). Try a boyfriend style shirt, tying it loosely and paired simply with a pair of high waisted shorts for a casual day time cool. Not only does the loose top hide a multitude of sins, but the contrast of a tighter bottom half accentuates your waist!
